For Carlos Ortiz, leading Tiger Trail School for Early Learning (TTS) feels like coming home.
Carlos Ortiz has spent the past 21 years helping students grow and succeed. As the new director of Tiger Trail School for Early Learning, he is excited to partner with teachers and families to build a strong educational foundation for the district's youngest students.
"Young children come to us with Limitless Curiosity," Ortiz said. "It's a privilege to provide them with the best possible start."
Ortiz's journey into educational leadership began in the classroom, where he discovered that the greatest impact happens when educators work together. Encouraged by a principal who recognized his leadership potential, he transitioned into campus leadership with a focus on supporting teachers, partnering with families and creating opportunities for every student to succeed.
He describes himself as a servant leader who believes the strongest schools are built through Collective Greatness and a Collaborative Spirit. His goal this school year is to build relationships with students, families and staff while creating an inclusive, learner-centered environment where children feel safe, supported and inspired to explore.
"What I want every student to feel when they walk through our doors is 'I belong,'" Ortiz said. "I want Every Child to know they are valued, they are safe and they are exactly where they are meant to be."
Outside of school,
Ortiz enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending live sporting events and concerts, and tackling do-it-yourself projects around the house. If something is broken, he's likely to be watching a YouTube tutorial before reaching for his toolbox.
For Ortiz, leadership is rooted in collaboration. He believes the best outcomes happen when educators, families and the community come together with one shared purpose: helping Every Child discover a lifelong love of learning.
